Format & Structure

Laura’s Song will be a six minute documentary driven by the words of Laura’s mother: Frances Hillier. The documentary will briefly cover Laura’s history but will quickly dive into the root crisis. From there the focus will be on what Laura did to help the issue and what she was able to accomplish even after passing.

Audience

The audience of this film would be anyone. Every single person on this earth has been affected by, or knows someone who has been affected by cancer. It is a very real and relatable topic that very well could affect anyone in the audience at some point in their lives. Laura was a young influential person whose story can give people the hope to realize that they too, can move mountains. People of the same age group of Laura will feel a sense of connection and motivation. Seeing such a young person have such monumental change has the power to inspire other young people to stand up for what they believe in and make change as well. After watching this documentary the audience should feel a call to action, although a huge amount of progress has been made there is so much more to be done. It is an issue that can affect anyone and it would leave the audiences wanting to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone they care about.

Goal

The goal of this documentary is spread awareness of the issues in the healthcare system. The  more people know about this issue, the fast and better the issue will be resolved. Before Laura passed away, she begged her family and friends to ensure that she not die in vain. This documentary will be a legacy piece to showcase the immense change Laura was able to make even after passing. It also aims to show people that one person has the power to make monumental change in any aspect of life- you just need to start by asking questions, and standing up for the rights you believe in.
